Let's face it, caffeine is a good time. I've been on and off the caffeine train for years and right now I'm off. I don't like the fact that after starting just a few mornings in a row with a caffeinated beverage, my anxiety goes through the roof and my body becomes dependent on it.
So as much as I can, I like to save those fun pick me up drinks like a double cappucino, a dirty chai, a matcha latte, or americano for a weekend treat or a special visit with a friend.
In lieu of those "fun" drinks I've been experimenting with other morning elixers (to have after my warm lemon water) that don't involve caffeine. First up is a turmeric drink inspired by a recipe on Megan Telpner's website. (she's really cool BTW)
Turmeric is big on scene these days for it's many health properties and benefits:
Megan calls her version: Turmeric Tea, I've made my own adjustments and decided to call it the: Not-So-Mellow Yellow Morning Elixir.
I kept it simple and narrowed it down to four ingredients: Turmeric, cinnamon, raw honey, and almond milk.
As far as measurements go, if you've read any of my other blogs you know I don't like to measure, but I'm thinking it would look something like this:
Place all of the ingredients in a saucepan and heat until it's steaming- DON'T BOIL IT!
(boiling temperatures mess with the enzymes and minerals in raw honey)
Pour into a mug, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon and enjoy!
